Those who know me, know that I love the theatre. But, the catch is my theatre partner (my sister)and I aren't filthy rich, live in NYC or part of some ritzy broadway club. We wait for the broadway tours to arrive in SF. So, our choices are limited. So when the right show arrives. We stake out how to get the best seats in town. This time we have struck gold! On stage tickets for $30. That's right $30...ON STAGE. Allen and Annie recognized me from their orchestra seats! We knew some of the open seats are saved for the cast members... So, during a play that is set in Germany in the late 19th century we didn't expect the cast members to be in regular street clothes rocking out! Wow! All the kids rocked out! I loved it! There was even some boobie and ass action! That threw me off a bit. I admit, I was a bit reluctant about the play but they have won me over. They have won me over.
I had to stay afterwards to meet the kids. The music director a kid himself rocked out with his mohawk and Van Slip ons. All so young, all so talented... I'm so jealous! I've been practicing my mi mi mi's and la la la's! There's an open call casting ... am I up for the challenge? Not! I'll just sit on stage and admire. Ladies and gentleman, Spring Awakening.
Want to know what I'm so excited about? Check out their performance from the 2007 Tony Awards. Where they won numerous awards. Including best musical.
